I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Lander University and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Anderson University. My educational background includes extensive coursework in anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology, health and wellness, research methods, and related sciences. This academic training, combined with my teaching experience, has prepared me to tutor students in Anatomy & Physiology, Exercise Science/Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Biology, Health and Wellness, and college-level academic skills.
I have experience teaching college-aged and adult students in classroom, small-group, and individualized settings. At Lander University, I have taught undergraduate First-Year Experience courses focused on academic success, study strategies, time management, critical thinking, communication, and college preparedness. I have also served as an Anatomy and Physiology instructor for adult learners, where I taught complex concepts related to human anatomy, body systems, and physiological processes. These experiences have strengthened my ability to work with students who have different levels of prior knowledge and different learning needs.
My teaching approach is student-centered and adaptable. I break challenging concepts into manageable steps and use real-world examples, visual explanations, practice questions, active recall, and discussion to reinforce understanding. Rather than focusing only on memorization or getting the correct answer, I help students understand why concepts work and develop study strategies they can apply independently in their courses.
