Bio

I have had the privilege of teaching and tutoring for 33 years. I have 3 earned degrees, including a Bachelors in Education degree from Pensacola Christian College (1992), an Associate or Arts degree from Hobe Sound Bible College (1992), and a Masters Degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1996). I have had the privilege of teaching and tutoring for 33 years. I have 3 earned degrees, including a Bachelors in Education degree from Pensacola Christian College (1992), an Associate or Arts degree from Hobe Sound Bible College (1992), and a Masters Degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1996). I am presently employed full time at Northside Christian Academy where I teach in a classroom and tutor about 15 students on a weekly basis. It is a highlight of mine to see student's grasp what I am teaching them; it is extremely rewarding. I am happily married with 5 children from 15 years to 28 years. I have high expectations for my students that I tutor. I use a lot of praise and affirmation while tutoring. Students leave their lessons encouraged and motivated. As a principal and as a teacher, I taught students in grades 7-12 Literature, Science, English, Math, and Music. Although my strengths are in Music and English, I also teach unicycling and juggling. I have enjoyed teaching students ranging from age 2-84. I do have experience teaching children with special needs and autism. The instruments I teach (with 33 years experience) include, flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn, baritone/euphonium, tuba, drums, bells, piano, violin, and guitar. My second teaching field in college, after music, is English. I enjoy helping students with limited English speaking abilities.

After completing a degree from Pensacola Christian College with approximately 20-30 hours in Bible courses, I graduated in 1993 with an Associates degree in Bible from Hobe Sound Bible College-another 25-30 hours of Bible courses. In 1996 I graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary which included several more hours in Bible courses. I enjoy studying the Bible and have been tutoring students and friends for over 24 years. My method of Bible studies include using other books and authors to consider their perspective on what the Biblical passage is saying.

I have been teaching the clarinet both in a band setting and as a private clarinet tutor for 24 years. I completed a four year B. S. in Music Education from Pensacola Christian College in 1992 where I learned how to both play and teach all of the band and string instruments, and piano. I also have learned how to play and teach the guitar as well. After earning my B. S., I went on to earn my Master's in Music from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, graduating with over 60 hours of master's level classes in 1996. I began classroom teaching and tutoring in 1992 and have been teaching for 24 years. Every January I attend the Florida Music Educator's Conference to sharpen my skills. I also am state certified in my teaching field. I am also part of the Florida Bandmaster's Association which allows me to enter students and bands into festivals and assessments. I also take my students to Jacksonville every March for music competition. I presently tutor students ranging from age 5-70 on piano, band instruments, and guitar. I also direct 5 bands/orchestra ranging from grade 4 through and including college. I presently teach Fundamentals of Music to college non-music majors. I have been teaching this class for the past 6-8 years, every fall.

I have an earned 4 year bachelor's degree in music education with trombone being my primary instrument. I have performed trombone in a college senior recital and a master's level trombone recital. I have tutored trombone for over 20 years. My students have placed first in trombone at state competitions. I have used my 14 years of trombone lessons as I have taught trombone effectively for the past 24 years.

Impressive

It's not easy to teach a first time instrument lesson 3,000 miles away - but Mr. Doyle did an amazing job. My son started trumpet over the summer prior to joining beginning band but his teacher is out on maternity leave. Mr. Doyle stepped in - he was very encouraging; gave excellent mouthpiece exercises as well as lower and higher level pieces to practice. He was very positive despite my son's not playing his best for the first lesson. It was obvious he's been teaching (well) for a long time :)
