About Daniel

Bio

I grew up as an American living in Italy from age 2 to age 18. I attended Italian public school taught in Italian and I am 100% fluent in Italian.

In high school I attended a language focused high school where I studied English as a foreign language (which I already was fluent in from my parents and time spent in the USA) and I also studied Spanish and German. German I did not retain much of, just some phrases and random vocabulary. Spanish on the other hand I picked up, practiced a lot...

Spanish on the other hand I picked up, practiced a lot during my travels and became fluent in.

In college I returned to the United States and I continued using my Spanish with Central and South American friends and while traveling. I also minored in Teaching English as a Foreign Language with a professor who spoke fluent Spanish, continuing my practice and love for this language.

I currently teach Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 for high school students at a private home school co-op. Here we focus on vocabulary, conversation and pronunciation, as well as reading, writing and grammar. Grammar ranges from sentence structure, to verb tenses and special rules.

I also keep up with my Italian when talking with family and high school friends. Honestly, however, after 16 of my formative years spent there, I don't believe I could lose this if I tried!

As for computer skills, I've always had a knack for it. I am especially proficient in the Microsoft Suite, Apple software, Google suite, Mailchimp and Constant Contact and other general computers. I sometimes help elderly clients with small computer tasks. Happy to help!

I've been computer guy since I learned how to edit videos, burn cd's and dvd's and the basics of HTML in the 2000's. My high school was one of the first to get broadband internet and I once submitted a research project on a rudimentary website I made and uploaded through Firefox. The teacher thought I was lying and hadn't completed the assignment and I had texted my best friend a link I had to type out by hand (no tiny url's back then). She was pleasantly surprised and my buddy relieved when the project popped up on a school browser and I had indeed completed the assignment. Ever since I've worked on websites, some email marketing, some basic graphic design, social media and a bit of everything in between. I currently work on maintaining the back end of a Wordpress site and help my boss upload YouTube videos, create show notes, podcast etc all SEO approved. I also have been a bit of a tinker-er when it comes to computers and hardware. I've replaced Mac hard drives, updated ram and even ran a small iPhone screen repair business before they moved to Face-ID devices. I have also helped a number of elderly (including my mom!) with simple computer tasks like re-arranging files, formatting drives and whole computers for resale, checking wifi and connections... a bit of everything.
