I hold a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina and am currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration at Clemson University. Alongside my coursework, I've spent the past two years working inside South Carolina state government, where I've done hands-on research and policy analysis for the Department of Transportation, the Department of Revenue, the Department of Public Safety, and the Fiscal Accountability Authority. That work has ranged from designing and analyzing a statewide survey to reviewing legislation and compliance standards, so I understand how government actually functions day to day, not just how it's described in a textbook.
I've also co-authored academic research on federal policy issues, including a paper on student loan forgiveness and its effects on higher education finance, and a current graduate project on the J-1 Teacher Program as a response to K-12 staffing shortages. I can help students with government, civics, and political science coursework at the high school or college level, AP Government prep, and research paper or essay writing where the goal is building a clear, well-supported argument. I tend to focus on making sure a student understands the underlying reasoning, not just memorizing terms, since that's what actually holds up on an exam or in a paper.
