I hold a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science with a certification in Children and Youth Programming, and I have over 20 years of experience working in libraries, including more than 8 years in school library settings. My work has focused primarily on elementary-aged children, where I have supported early literacy, reading development, and foundational learning skills. In addition to my library experience, I have worked as a kindergarten assistant, providing small group instruction, leading literacy activities, and supporting students in building early reading and writing skills.
My approach to tutoring is patient, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for young learners. I draw on my experience leading storytimes, toddler programs, and early literacy activities to make learning interactive and enjoyable. I understand how to keep young students focused while building confidence, and I tailor each session to meet their individual needs. Whether a child is just beginning to recognize letters or needs support with reading comprehension, I break skills into simple, manageable steps.
I have worked with a wide range of elementary students, including early readers and those who need extra support to build confidence and independence. I create a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable participating and asking questions. My goal is to help children not only improve their skills, but also develop a positive relationship with reading and learning that will support them long-term.
