I’m Suzette! I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English, a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, and an Education Specialist Degree in School Leadership. I am a certified English teacher, and a certified school librarian. I have been in the education field for 30 years and love what I do. I bring a wealth of knowledge to the students I teach. I also have experience in teaching homebound students. I didn’t have the best experiences in my English classes while in grade school, so I made a commitment to myself to make my students' experiences pleasant and memorable. My lesson plans usually consist of a “hook”; something to grab the students’ attention at the beginning of each lesson. I find that it’s easier to grab and hold their attention from the very beginning. At the end of each lesson, students are allowed to practice what has been taught.
I have 30 years of tutoring experience. I spent 15 years as an English teacher and offered my tutoring services after school during the week, and I have 15 years as a School Librarian and offer tutoring twice a week during the school day. I work directly with students who need additional assistance, and also work with small groups with a particular focus. All of my experience has been with middle and high school students but I welcome adults needing assistance with basic English and Reading.
It is my goal for every student to succeed in the areas of English Language Arts and reading; therefore, I welcome any suggestions or resources that can help in the process. I am easy to reach and will always provide quick responses. Please contact me with any questions you may have or to schedule a lesson. I look forward to working with you and/or your student.
