I have more than ten years of experience teaching chemistry and biology at the college level in both classroom and laboratory settings. Including my graduate teaching assistantships, I have taught well over 1,000 students ranging from traditional college freshmen to adult learners returning to school. My teaching experience includes General Chemistry, General Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and other life science courses. In addition to classroom instruction, I have provided one-on-one assistance during office hours and individualized tutoring to help students master challenging concepts and prepare for exams.
My teaching philosophy is centered on understanding rather than memorization. I believe students learn best when they understand the underlying concepts and develop confidence in their own problem-solving abilities. In chemistry, I guide students through calculations and reactions step by step so they understand the reasoning behind each process instead of memorizing procedures. In biology, I help students recognize patterns and connections that make complex topics easier to understand and remember. Every tutoring session is tailored to the student's background, learning style, and academic goals.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been seeing students develop the confidence to succeed in science. Many of my former students have continued their education in graduate programs, pharmacy schools, medical schools, and other health professions. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and enjoy helping students from diverse backgrounds.
