Hello, my name is De'Areyes B., and I am a currently licensed English teacher employed by Greenville County Schools. I have been teaching English for six years and have taught all high school grade levels. I completed my bachelor’s degree in English in May 2020 and my master’s degree in Reading and Literacy in 2023 from Capella University. I am also currently enrolled in a doctoral program in Education at Capella University.

My teaching experience is diverse. I have taught Journalism, Yearbook, Web Writing, African American Literature, English I, English III, and English IV. Most recently, in the fall, I taught an Accuplacer preparation course. I began my teaching career at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, during this time I taught both virtually and in person. Throughout my six years as an educator, I have also consistently provided tutoring services twice a week each year .

As a teacher, I have worked with students with disabilities, students whose first language is not English, and students who experience behavioral challenges. I am a “warm demander” inside the classroom, meaning I hold high expectations for all students while providing the support, structure, and encouragement they need to meet those expectations. My pedagogy is culturally relevant, and I strive to make learning engaging and meaningful for every student that steps in my classroom . While learning can sometimes be challenging, I believe it should also be enjoyable, and I set out to create a classroom environment that is both supportive and engaging.
