I am a certified high school math teacher with 17 years of classroom experience plus 2 years of virtual school experience. I hold teaching certifications in both mathematics and special education, which has equipped me with strategies to support students of all learning styles and abilities. Over the years, I have taught a wide range of students from middle school through high school in subjects including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II/Advanced Algebra, and Geometry.
My teaching approach is centered on making math clear, approachable, and less intimidating. I break down concepts step by step, provide real-world examples, and adapt explanations until students feel confident. I am a visual learner myself and seek to use as many visual representations as possible. I emphasize not only how to solve problems but also why the methods work, so that students can develop deeper understanding and long-term problem-solving skills. Many of my students have found that this approach reduces their anxiety about math and helps them build lasting confidence. I have a very welcoming personality that most students feel more at ease with.
I enjoy working with students one-on-one, where I can give focused attention to their unique strengths and challenges. Whether a student needs help catching up, reinforcing classwork, or preparing for future coursework, I am committed to meeting them where they are and helping them move forward. My goal is to make math less of a struggle and more of a success story for each student I work with.
