My educational background in criminal justice represents a Bachelor's degree from SUNY/Brockport and a Master's of Arts degree from Washington State University. While a graduate student at WSU I was also a graduate assistant to the Chair of the department and as a result I graded his papers, held office hours with his students and several times during the semester gave the class room lecture.
Upon graduation from the program I worked for King County Superior Court located in the Seattle, WA area. I worked as a juvenile corrections officer, juvenile probation counselor and an anger management instructor to youth sentenced to probation in the community. As a probation counselor/officer I supervised upwards of 60 probationers in the community. I supervised their treatment, education, job and friends & family interactions. Additionally, I regularly appeared in court and presented to the bench. I was required to conduct psycho-social evaluations of each youth, present that information to the court and then make a recommendation to the court regarding sentencing.
I was also a treatment provider for the juvenile court. I conducted an internationally recognized aggression intervention for court sentenced youth. The intervention consisted of 3 classes a week for a period of 10 weeks. In the intervention I taught and trained youth on how to best manage feelings of anger so they could make better choices that did not involve aggressive behavior.
