I am currently a Capstone and Magellan Scholar at the University of South Carolina, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Medical Humanities and Culture. Maintaining a 3.92 GPA on a rigorous pre-medical track has given me a deep, practical understanding of complex STEM subjects. Because I actively apply these science and math concepts in my current roles as an undergraduate global health researcher and a clinical optometric technician, I excel at teaching them not just as abstract textbook theories, but as engaging, real-world tools.

My formal teaching and mentorship experience spans multiple roles, settings, and age groups. I previously worked as an Instructor and Tutor at a Kumon Math and Reading Center, where I provided one-on-one and small-group mentorship to over 20 K-12 students. In that classroom setting, I learned how to quickly assess a student's baseline and adapt my teaching strategies to their specific learning style to accelerate their proficiency. Additionally, as a university Resident Assistant, I mentored over 40 pre-health college freshmen, guiding them through the challenging transition into rigorous, university-level STEM coursework and providing actionable academic advice.

My tutoring approach is rooted in patience, adaptability, and clear communication. Whether I am helping a high school student master AP Biology concepts or guiding a younger student through foundational math, I focus on breaking down intimidating topics into digestible steps. By emphasizing critical thinking over rote memorization, I ensure my students build the confidence and problem-solving skills they need to succeed independently.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

As a former Kumon Math Instructor, I have extensive experience breaking down foundational math concepts for K-12 students to ensure they fully grasp the mechanics of algebraic problem-solving. My strong mathematical background is demonstrated by my score of 5 on the AP Calculus exam and my 3.95 GPA as a university STEM major. I focus on building my students' confidence through step-by-step guidance, adapting my teaching style to match their unique learning pace.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Earning a 5 on the AP Calculus exam requires a deep, structural understanding of Algebra 2, which is exactly the level of mastery I strive to pass on to my students. With a 3.95 GPA in a rigorous university STEM program, I am highly accustomed to tackling complex, multi-step equations and applying them to real-world scenarios. I use my previous experience as a dedicated math tutor to help students recognize patterns and simplify intimidating functions into manageable steps.
Biology

Biology

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a 3.95 GPA on a pre-medical track, and I previously earned a perfect 5 on my AP Biology exam. Beyond textbook theory, I actively apply biological concepts every day in my roles as an undergraduate global health researcher and a clinical optometric technician. Whether we are covering cellular respiration or complex genetics, I use these practical, real-world examples to help my students truly understand and retain the material.
Chemistry

Chemistry

As a pre-medical Biological Sciences major with a 3.95 GPA, I have a proven track record of academic excellence, including earning a perfect final grade of 100 in both university-level General Chemistry 1 and 2. Because I actively build upon this foundational chemistry in my advanced laboratory coursework, I know how to translate difficult theories into practical, understandable concepts. Furthermore, I have extensive experience guiding pre-health college students through rigorous STEM transitions during my time as a university Resident Assistant. Whether we are tackling complex stoichiometry or molecular structures, I specialize in breaking down intimidating equations into intuitive, step-by-step processes.
Ecology

Ecology

Ecology is a foundational pillar of my Biological Sciences major, and my comprehensive understanding of environmental systems is reflected in my perfect 5 on the AP Biology exam. Furthermore, my hands-on work as a Magellan Scholar conducting global health research has given me a deep appreciation for how biological communities and populations interact. I love helping students connect the dots between local food webs, population dynamics, and broad environmental concepts to make ecology both engaging and highly accessible.
