Educational Background & Certifications:
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (UNC Wilmington), a Master’s in Educational Leadership, and an Ed.S. (Education Specialist) in Leadership from Wingate University. I am a certified K–6 teacher and licensed K–12 Principal and School Superintendent. My credentials are current and backed by over 20 years in public education.
Teaching & Tutoring Experience:
I have over two decades of experience teaching and leading in elementary schools, including 8 years as a classroom teacher, 6 years as a district-level director overseeing 25 academic programs, and 10 years as an Assistant Principal. I have worked one-on-one with students in both classroom and intervention settings, coached teachers in best practices, and created individualized learning plans to support a wide range of learners—including those with ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and learning differences.
Instructional Approach & Methods:
My approach is warm, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. I focus on building trust and motivation while using research-based strategies that meet each student’s needs. I specialize in executive functioning coaching, ADHD support, and foundational literacy and math tutoring. I break complex tasks into manageable parts, use visuals and movement-based supports, and incorporate routines that promote independence and confidence.
Who I Teach:
I have extensive experience supporting children with learning differences, attention challenges, and those navigating transitions (such as adopted students or those with anxiety). My expertise spans classroom, small group, and individualized instruction in both in-person and virtual formats.
