Hi! I’m a patient and encouraging tutor who believes that students learn best when difficult concepts are explained in a way that makes sense to them. I work with students who may be struggling with homework, preparing for a test, or simply want to feel more confident in a subject. My goal is not just to give students the answer, but to help them understand why the answer is correct so they can solve similar problems independently. My methods for supporting students are to help them see the relevance of what they are learning and to help them learn techniques to study and understand what they are learning. I tell my students that all questions are good questions and that asking questions means you are thinking deeply about the subject. I work to not only help students learn content but also inspire them to see the potential in themselves.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Science and a Master of Arts in Teaching. I taught public high school science and Biology 150 & 151 at Winthrop University for 8 years combined. Prior to getting my degrees, I was an in-person tutor.
I began teaching at Fusion Global Academy in 2021 where I am a current teacher of science. I have taught the following classes, Biology, AP Biology, Environmental Science, AP Environmental Science, Earth Space Science, Chemistry, Veterinary Science, Marine Biology, Astronomy, Life Science, Physics, Zoology, Animal Behavior, and Anatomy & Physiology.
I am a reflective practitioner and I work to make my teaching and knowledge better every year. I just attended a professional meeting for a week in Atlanta, Georgia with the Knowles Teacher Initiative where I am a Senior Fellow. I am committed to helping students succeed and have the most experience with high school age students.
I also have experience working with students with ADHD, autism, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, anxiety, and IEPs. I firmly believe everyone can learn and deserves the chance to learn and that practicing will improve learning and test scores.
