Hi! I'm Bryan. Struggling with Organic 1 or 2? I can help! Struggling with Gen Chem 1 or 2? Sure! I can help there as well. Even those who need prep for the ACS Finals, we can work on practice problems tailored to your course curriculum!

Whether you're looking to prep for an exam or just understand those elusive concepts your professor teaches, I can get you prepared and confident before exams!

I have 2,200+ hrs of experience developing clear explanations to problems in a step-by-step process. I've helped international students with a language barrier score A's and B's in chemistry! In Fall 2021, an international client taught resonance to her biochemistry tutor after working with me using my sample problems. I have achieved these results by being patient and flexible adjusting my explanations and approach to accommodate each student's unique learning style.

I have also helped students when zoom lectures are insufficient. Most of my students report dramatic improvement in their grades at Penn State, Brown, UGA, Florida State, UCSD, Univ of South Carolina, UNLV and Clemson!

Courses and Topics:

General Chem 1:
Stoichiometry, SI Units, Accuracy vs Uncertainty in Measurements, Balancing reactions, Limiting reactants, Lewis Structures, VSEPR Geometry, hybridization, and Acid-Base reactions

General Chem 2:
Calorimetry, Calculating Free Energy reactions, Enthalpy, Equilibrium constants Keq, Kc, Kp, and Q, Redox reactions, and Ecell

Organic Chem 1:
IUPAC, Sn1 vs Sn2, Markovnikov Rule, carbocation stability, chair conformers, Newman projections, stereochemistry, Synthesis, Arrow mechanisms

Organic Chem 2:
NMR, Grignard, Aromatic substitutions, carb acid derivatives, Aldols and enolates, Epoxidations, Alkene oxidations, Carbonyl reductions, Aromaticity and Huckel Rule

See a few of your topics? I'm available most weekdays 12 PM to 3 PM and 5 PM to 12 AM Eastern. As well as most weekends so feel free to check out my calendar for current times!

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is one of my favorite subjects. I have always excelled at manipulating equations and solving for variables. Since my first encounter with Algebra 1 in 9th grade, I have over five years experience with fundamentals and problem-solving techniques. Overall, mathematics is my strongest subject and combined with my six year tutoring background, I am confident that students can demonstrate dramatic improvement on standardized tests and quizzes.
Chemistry

Chemistry

Earning a B.S. degree in chemistry has exposed me to a wide-range of chemistry courses. I especially have experience with ideal gas law, atomic structure such as orbitals, equilibrium reactions, bonding, acids & bases, and electrochemistry. My focus is making sure students understand the concepts well enough to be confident and self-proficient after tutor sessions.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

I have been teaching organic chemistry full-time with a M.S. in chemistry since 2019. I have taught 15 students how to understand a few concepts that can be applied repeatedly to ace organic chemistry! During my undergraduate career, I scored in the 95th percentile on the ACS final and began tutoring organic later that year in 2011. I received an A in organic 2 and soon realized what I wanted to with my life! Organic chemistry is not a memorization course as many are led to believe. I can give you the tools to break away from un-productive studying to become an expert!
SAT Reading

SAT Reading

Reading comprehension is an important skill for every student regardless of their field of study or interests. As a chemist for example, I spend months on certain occasions writing abstracts and research reports which requires me to read perplexing articles from professional chemists. Since then, I have been accepted to conferences, scored well on reading tests and continuously apply this useful skill in my research.

Truly outstanding organic chemistry help

Bryan is hands-down the best Organic Chemistry tutor I’ve ever worked with. I came into our sessions overwhelmed, anxious, and genuinely unsure if I could keep up with the course. From day one, he completely changed the way I approached the material. He’s incredibly patient, clear, and unbelievably knowledgeable about every aspect of Organic Chemistry. No matter how confused I was or how many times I needed something re-explained, he never made me feel rushed. He breaks down complicated mechanisms in a way that makes sense. Beyond just teaching the content, Bryan helped me significantly with my anxiety around Organic Chemistry. He creates a calm, encouraging environment that makes it possible to actually think, ask questions, and build confidence. After working with him, I understand the material so much better. I cannot recommend Bryan enough. If you need someone who is patient, supportive, and truly an expert in the subject, he’s the person you want.

Great review session!

Bryan really helped clear up SN1, SN2, E1, and E2 reactions for me. I got introduced to more complex problems.

Great review session!

I was grateful for the break down of reactions. I have a clearer understanding of SN1 and SN2 reactions. IUPAC names were refreshed as well.

Patient teacher, Takes Time with Topics

I’ve only had two sessions with Bryan but he has made me understand important foundations in chemistry I have missed out on- and I am about to take Ochem 2. He is quick to steer you in the right direction if you’ve been taught wrong, and takes things back to the basics so it’s easy for you to understand. I have had a lot of light bulb moments in his teachings and am very grateful. Awesome tutor!

Awesome tutor!

My session was great! Bryan is very knowledgable and helped me understand and solve organic chemistry 1 problems I was really struggling with. I would absolutely recommend him and look forward to working with him again.

Would recommend

Bryan is super cool and patient. I've been going to him for about a week and a half now, and the way I absorb and dissect problems has completely changed. Bryan completely breaks down the problem into concepts, which changes the way I go about solving them. I have already begun seeing improvements in my grades. So if you're considering tutoring, I 100% recommend choosing Bryan!

Great teacher!

Helped me to understand concepts and application of certain topics rather than just going over the math aspect of them.

Great review session!

I was grateful for the break down of constitutional isomers. Also, helped tremendously with classification. HDI was covered as well.
