I hold a B.S. in Biology from St. Ambrose University and am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Clemson University. My academic background has provided me with extensive experience in the biological sciences, including microbiology, cell and molecular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, environmental science, and related fields. I have completed rigorous coursework throughout my academic career and understand the challenges that come with managing advanced material and demanding schedules.
My teaching experience comes from years of informal peer mentoring, helping classmates and younger students understand difficult concepts, and supporting my siblings academically. I have worked with students one-on-one and in study groups by explaining concepts, leading discussions, and helping identify areas where additional understanding is needed. I have also trained new laboratory employees, teaching them laboratory procedures, problem-solving skills, and practical applications of laboratory mathematics.
My approach to tutoring focuses on helping students truly understand the material while developing the skills needed for long-term success. I believe many challenging concepts become manageable when they are broken down and approached from the right perspective. In addition to subject-specific tutoring, I enjoy helping students develop effective study strategies, organization, and time management skills. I am comfortable working with students who need help catching up, students seeking to strengthen their foundation, and advanced students looking to excel in challenging science courses.
