Hi! I’m Ryan and am a biochemistry major at Clemson University!
I have always enjoyed tutoring students in topics that I am passionate in. During high school, I always liked helping out my friends in their college calculus and chemistry courses. I also worked for a period at The Tutoring Center, where I gleaned professional tutoring experience and tutored grades k-12. I graduated as the salutatorian of my high school. I also graduated summa cum laude with two associate degrees that I obtained through dual-enrollment during my time in high school. I was also named outstanding senior in mathematics. I obtained perfect scores on both the ACT (36 cumulative) and SAT (1600). This led me to be named a US Presidential Scholar nominee and also a National Merit Scholar. The summer after my graduation, I was South Carolina's delegate to the National Youth Science Camp. I also did materials science research at Clemson University and observed surgery.
I have been on the President’s list every semester for the past three years. I participate in numerous extracurricular activities such as Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society, the Biochemistry and Genetics Club, and the climbing club. I was also selected to be a member of the selective Dixon Global Policy Scholar program. I also run my own research project, where I analyze the effects of selected genes on drug resistance in aspergillus fumigatus. This past summer I have been observing more surgery with SPURS, a program run by Prisma health, and conducting a clinical research project to improve the quality of patient care.
This past year, I have tutored many college students of all ages in a half dozen different topics. I love helping students understand and learn to apply complex topics. I can adapt my lesson style to the learner's needs, but I usually find that guiding them through difficult practice problems leads to the best understanding.
Please feel to reach out and I will get back to you soon!
