I was taught art by Dianne Tennyson. I am expert in pastel painting and graphite pencil drawings. I love painting landscapes. I am a juried member of the Charleston Artist Guild, and the APS regional guild. I have been a juried member in local and national exhibits and competitions. My artwork hung in the Courtyard Gallery until it closed. I can teach basic and advanced drawing skills and pastels techniques. I assisted art classes at Charleston Catholic School as a volunteer for 2 years. I enjoy working with younger children most.

I have several years of experience homeschooling. I started with my youngest child for 3 years then tutored her through 8th grade and honors/ AP science courses at BEHS. I taught her study skills and strategies for success with grades, academic honors and and scholarships. I taught all my children to be avid readers which helped them academically and in standard tests. Currently I am supporting high school homeschooled students. Reading, writing, math and creativity are keys to academic success that I can help best with.

I have worked leading painting private and corporate parties in acrylics and watercolor painting. These parties are either online or in person for groups up to 30 people. In the summer of 2024 I taught private lessons in painting with various medium. In the 2024-2025 academic year I taught art at the Chinese Academy in Charleston which included acrylic and watercolor painting for classes of 15-20 students. I helped the students enter various contests.

I successfully teach phonics, reading and writing to many elementary school students. Lessons are fun and engaging so my students look forward to our lessons and improve.

I conducted research at the Medical University of SC. I was required to write, present and publish doctorate level papers on the different research completed. I presented research at national conferences. I took extra English and writing courses at the College of Charleston.

Lucy has been great with my son! She has worked with him to find study solutions that work best for him and has kept him focused and engaged.
