I'm currently a junior in the College of Charleston Honors College program. I am working towards a B.S. in both Marine Biology and Environmental and Sustainability Studies! Currently, I have two years of tutoring experience in English and Mathematics. In those two years, I have tutored everyone from pre-K students to high school seniors. Along with experience across a wide age range, I have experience with students who are behind in school and those looking to excel. Specifically, I have tutored multiple years behind grade level, students at grade level, and students who are a few years ahead. It should also be noted that I am experienced in tutoring students with disabilities affecting education and day-to-day life. No matter the student’s situation, I am more than willing and capable of tutoring them.
A key aspect of my tutoring is focusing on student confidence. One of the first things I notice when meeting a new student is how confident they are in their work. While I am mainly referring to students who are not confident, I also address students who are overly confident, to the point that their work is affected. In my opinion, confidence is one of the most important aspects of education. Even beyond a student’s confidence in their work, I strive to ensure all my students are confident enough to ask and answer questions, to tell me when they don’t understand something, and to continue to excel in their education.
