As a tutor, I’ve tutored both individually and in groups. My methods involve using worksheets and both guided and independent exercises to reinforce the material we cover. I also show the student how to use helpful resources, such as conjugation trainers and Quizlet sets, in the way that will best benefit them.
For speaking practice, I try to create a stress-free, comfortable environment by reminding the student that practice doesn't have to be perfect to be beneficial. I adapt a topic according to the student's needs, interests, and comfort level. For instance, if I have a beginner student with an interest in soccer, I would ask them simple questions about the sport, such as "Do you play soccer?" and "Who is your favorite soccer player?"
