I am a certified social studies teacher with a Master's in History Education and more than seven years of classroom experience teaching students in grades 6 through 12. I hold teaching certifications in both South Carolina and New York, and I currently teach high school in South Carolina, where I also serve as social studies department chair. My classroom experience includes U.S. History, Government, Economics, and AP Human Geography, and I began my career teaching in New York City public schools.
In my classroom and in one-on-one sessions, I focus on helping students understand history instead of just memorizing it. We work with real primary sources, connect events through cause and effect, and practice building clear claims backed by evidence. That approach carries over directly to test prep, document-based questions, short answer responses, and full essays. I break big units into manageable pieces, use visuals, timelines, and simple study tools, and check for understanding often so nothing gets skipped.
I tutor middle and high school students who want to raise a grade, prepare for an end-of-course or AP exam, strengthen their writing, or simply feel more confident in social studies. I also work with homeschool families who want structured, standards-aligned lessons. Every session is built around the student's goals, current coursework, and the way they learn best. My goal is for students to leave each session knowing the material and knowing how to prove it on the test.
