I help students increase their reading comprehension by providing guidance and support. My Lessons foster growth through instruction designed to help students feel successful. Lessons are created to match where the student is as a learner, so that with support, they can achieve the session objectives. I focus not just on reading comprehension skills. My students and I also practice oral reading skills, including fluency, accuracy, and expression. These are predictors of silent reading comprehension.
I spend my free time with my husband and two adult children. My husband and I travel nationally and internationally. We both love reading, history, and art. We also work hard to keep our garden growing!
I have been teaching for 18 years as a classroom teacher, a special education teacher, and a private tutor. I am a product of both public and private K-12 schooling. My Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin–Stout is in Education with an emphasis in Instructional Design. My undergraduate degree and my teaching credentials were earned at Immaculata University.
