Hi! Thank you for visiting my profile! My name is Sarina, and I graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in English and the highest Latin honors. Specializing in ESL and remote learning, I have been a passionate tutor for a decade and was awarded the Mary Guthrie Teaching Scholarship in 2018. My subject areas of expertise are English Language Arts, Composition, College Admissions, and Test Preparation (SAT/ACT). I have helped students raise their SAT scores by 200+ points and supported upcoming high school graduates through the college admissions process, with many of my students now attending the nation’s top public and private universities.

I love empowering students of all ages and backgrounds to find their authentic voice in writing. I believe in bridging the gap between students' personal interests and academic challenges by customizing each lesson so that it resonates with the individual. Although there is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning, I recognize that everyone can find a lifelong love of learning. I hope to achieve that with every student through an empathetic understanding of their individualized learning style, passions, strengths, and weaknesses.

When tutoring online, I utilize screen sharing, interactive student assessments, and the whiteboard to ensure mastery of the subject. Moreover, my judgement-free approach makes each session a place where mistakes are celebrated as an opportunity for learning. As a seasoned tutor who is ready to help all students meet their goals and thrive academically and beyond, I want you to enjoy learning as much as I enjoy teaching!

I believe that effective communication can be a valuable tool for self-empowerment, and I look forward to helping you use your voice with confidence. Please consider booking a trial lesson or message me to discuss your learning goals. We will work together to customize a plan that is right just for you.
