I am an elementary education teacher from CT who also holds a Master's degree in elementary education.
I taught in the Shelton school district and taught 2nd, 5th, and 4th grade. I spent the majority of my teaching career in 4th grade. I love watching the children grow and mature mentally and academically from September to June. I loved them as my own and we shared many memories together. Being an avid equestrian I usually brought a couple of my horses in on the last day of school. I loved this experience as I tried to enrich the children's lives with new activities.
I taught math as well as all elementary subjects. I loved finding different ways for the students to understand math as they all learned differently and needed alternative ways to understand math concepts. Sometimes more basics were needed. Sometimes life experiences were needed. Sometimes peer or extra tutoring was needed.
I would like to be a tutor you call on for homework help, practice with a concept, and further enrichment of a concept in all elementary subjects. I will be available Mondays-Thursdays from 4-6 pm. I think it's important that students get their homework done before dinner so that they can spend time with their families before bed. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a masters degree in elementary education from Fairfield University. I was certified to teach k-6 in the state of CT. My certification has expired as a stopped teaching a few years ago to pursue my passion with horses. I taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade in the Shelton Public School District in Connecticut.
