Hi! My name is Daniel R and I am currently employed as a GED teacher in Woonsocket, RI. I originally studied Computer Science at the University of Rhode Island but swiftly changed majors to Mathematics as I found myself more interested in the Math classes. From here I added education courses and finished through with Mathematics as my focus. I have always enjoyed Math but more specifically being able to share the wonders of Math with others. I have been told this excitement has been integral in connecting with students and the passion I have for learning in general has allowed me to find different ways to connect different topics for different students.
As for my education experience, my teaching started as early as high school. I was always the person to go to for help with any subject, as I was always eager to help. As I grew professionally I realized that desire to help was truthfully a passion to teach. My first experience was as a Math Fellow for a Providence high school where I taught small groups of up to 5. After that I was the head of a homework hub program for a youth center in my home city, assisting students 1 on 1 in any and all subjects. From there I moved into my current position teaching GED.
In teaching GED I feel I have gained the most comfort in educating individuals at all different levels, regardless of age. It has been an unique challenge to tailor lessons to the vast amount of different learning styles you meet in as a GED instructor. This has allowed for significant growth in my teaching ability as I have been met with students of any and all levels. I meet students right where they are in their education and I remain patient with the goal of helping them discover the knowledge they hold within themselves.
