I’m Bailey! I graduated from Bates College in 2019 with a major in Studio Art and a minor in Teacher Education that allowed me to become certified to teach Math, Grades 7-12. Following graduation, I continued to earn my certification to teach Art, Pre-K-12. Throughout high school and college, I helped students with homework, both individually and in a group setting. I also made time for one-on-one instruction as a student teacher. While teaching, I enthusiastically found creative methods of presenting material that increased student interest and understanding, focusing on using visuals to aid lessons. I am patient and very clear in my directions and instruction which allows me to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way. My courses in education provided me with various methods of teaching and differentiating so I feel confident in my ability to adapt to different learning styles.
With all things, I strive to maintain and inspire a positive attitude and inquisitive nature. I manage my family’s seasonal business and my schedule during the school year is very flexible. As a result, I can focus more attention on being a successful tutor, creating a supportive environment for my students, and communicating effectively with students and their parents. I am most comfortable tutoring Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and basic Geometry as well as general arithmetic. Since I completed my student teaching in an 8th grade math classroom, I already have lesson plans and notes that align with the common core standards and curriculum of that age group.
