ADHD

ADHD

I have had great success tutoring a 7th grade boy who has ADHD; his dad (Mike V) left a comment regarding my tutoring with WYZANT. I have taught many high school students with this condition and know how to keep them engaged; I would like the opportunity to help more students that struggle with this disorder.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

In the past, I have tutored Chemistry, Physics and Math at CCRI, I'm sure I can help! All of the above subjects require a working knowledge of Algebra. I have also taught at the high school level and home school my children.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

My Algebra II instructor was a descendant of Rene Des Carte and I was taught Calculus in England. I have taught chemistry at the college level and high school physics. I would like to believe that my unusual mix of instruction allows me to see things from a perspective that the textbooks may not capture. I would love the opportunity to share what I have learned.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I have been an organic lab assistant in undergraduate school and a teaching assistant in grad school. I have worked in R&D for Procter & Gamble, Pfizer Inc. and Oak Ridge National Labs. I am an organic chemist by day and don't claim to know all the answers, but most students have found me to be a great help.
Chess

Chess

I have been playing chess for 35 years; for the last five years I have been teaching my son who is now age 14. A few years ago I played daily on an international forum. My rating increased from 1200 to 1500 by playing more experienced players. I would love to share what I learned with people from ages 8 to 80!
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

For two years I have tutored Chemistry, Physics and Math at CCRI. After homeschooling my kids, I realized that they needed conceptual instruction as well as an understanding of raw operations; i.e. instead of memorizing 3X4=12, they needed to circle 3 dots four times then count up all twelve dots; then I would add, "now try to remember that!" I never tell people to memorize anything; I just explain something then encourage them to remember it....
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

I have been a Teaching Assistant for Organic Chemistry while in school and acted as a paraprofessional tutor at CCRI. Some of the students that I have helped are now veterinarians, pharmacists, physicians and chemists. I can help with 1st or 2nd Semester Organic Chemistry, Intermediate Organic, Graduate School entrance exams and/or MCAT prep.
Physical Science

Physical Science

In 1995 I won the Physical Science Award at Lee University for acting as the Organic Chemistry Lab Assistant and maintaining a 4.0 GPA in Physical Science. Since then I've taught College Chemistry and High School Physics and tutored Chemistry, Math and Physics at CCRI.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have tutored Chemistry, Physics and Math at CCRI. I am presently teaching my son (age 14) prealgebra. I know the pace to get him where he needs to go. It is very important to teach concepts, then anyone of any age can use the concepts to figure out problems!

Great tutor

Dan is a phenomenal tutor! With his patient guidance my daughter was able to have the confidence she needed to tackle the Bio Organic Chemistry course she needed as a pre-requisite for the nursing program at Rhode Island College! Very accommodating and innovate approach! Thank you Dan!

Great Tutor

After having only a single 2 hour session with Danny I felt much more comfortable and stress free during my next math test. He is great at explaining things and takes his time.

Awesome Tutor

Dan has been very good for my son. Interacts well and easy to get along with. Dan has been able to walk him through one chapter at a time, quite a relief for all of us. I think tutoring is a great avenue for one on one help, however it has to be a good fit. I think Dan puts his heart and soul into teaching. He goes beyond just putting the pencil to paper and has always been very easy to reach when there was a question during the week.
