I am a certified 7–12 math teacher and K–12 ESL instructor with 5 years of experience helping students build confidence and mastery in both mathematics and academic English. I currently serve as a high school math teacher and department leader, and I have also taught middle school science. My academic background includes bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Political Science, as well as master’s degrees in Education and TESOL. This combination allows me to support students not only in understanding challenging concepts, but also in communicating their thinking clearly and effectively.
I have worked with learners of all ages and skill levels:
– students strengthening foundational math skills
– advanced learners preparing for higher-level coursework
– English learners who benefit from specialized language support
– students with diverse learning needs or academic barriers
In every setting, I focus on building conceptual understanding, reducing anxiety, and developing effective problem-solving and communication skills. Whether a student is learning Algebra, preparing for SAT Math, or working to improve academic English, I believe that with patient guidance and clear instruction, every learner can grow and succeed.
When tutoring, I begin by identifying a student’s current understanding and any obstacles they may be facing. From there, I tailor instruction to their pace, background knowledge, and goals, using a mix of visual models, guided practice, and targeted feedback. My goal is for each student to leave every session feeling supported, capable, and confident in their next steps.
If you’re looking for an encouraging and experienced educator who meets students where they are and helps them move forward — in math, English, or both — I would be glad to work with you.
