I'm Dan! I graduated from Brown University with a degree in Math and followed up with graduate studies in Computer Science at NYU. I am available to tutor a variety of math subjects as well as computer science and introductory physics.

I had always liked helping my classmates in high school in classes like AP Calculus BC and AP Physics and later in my college math classes. When I went to university I became a tutor and teaching assistant for College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus and a a grader for Linear Algebra. In addition, I've been tutoring independently for the past two years. Over time, I've helped a wide range of students, from those struggling in introductory or remedial classes to those who were getting by but wanted to truly excel. Seeing them grow and progress inspires me to continue tutoring.

I focus on making sure students have what they need to succeed, both on the next test, and for the rest of their academic career. I adapt my tutoring to the needs of each individual student but I always work to ensure they have a solid conceptual understanding combined with strong problem-solving skills. My aim is to explain ideas as clearly as possible, breaking things down as needed, and offering different perspectives to help make concepts "click." I work to pinpoint and remedy weaknesses and misunderstandings so students can grow into confident, independent problem solvers. Moreover, I try to impart the skills and attitude to keep learning effectively on their own.

Finally, I am flexible and strive for constant improvement so I am always happy to work with students and parents to figure out the best way I can help. My goal is ultimately to help my students succeed.

Approved Subjects

Physics

Physics

I took several years of physics courses in high school and college. I also have experience tutoring for introductory physics.
Real Analysis

Real Analysis

I took real analysis as a part of my math degree. Since then I have taken many further courses in analysis as well as applied the knowledge and techniques to other subjects. My thorough understanding of the subject and experience teaching both the concrete and abstract sides of math means I am well posed to help students navigate this often challenging subject.

Patient, knowledgeable Pre-Calc and Physics AP tutor

Daniel works well with my 16-year-old daughter on Pre-Calc and Physics AP. He is calm and patient, and can explain the subjects in flexible ways (rather than just repeating the textbooks) so she understands.
