Bio

Salut! Hi!

My name is Amy. French came easy to me when I began to study it at age 12. I used to tape record quizzes for my friends, and play them over the phone. My friends all aced their quizzes the next day.

I minored in French in college, tutored a student soon after, and served as a French document translator at the Social Security Administration for 8 years.

Although I initially advertised to help with French, I am happy to give prime nudges and mnemonics to aide in 6 other subjects. People of all ages are at ease with me, as I am at ease with them!

I even teach 1st time surf lessons for free. It is payment enough to see the look on their faces as they ride!

The key is to make it fun...something you look forward to...

Avec un sourire, With a Smile,
Amy

ASVAB

ASVAB

I received the score of 96 out of 99 on the ASVAB at age 31. Ironically, I thought I had blown it. After all, most of what is covered is based on the knowledge acquired in High School. Age 18 had been a semi-distant memory! To boot - I found out about the ASVAB training book while in the waiting area...too late for that!
English

English

I found that learning a second language enables a person to review their own native language. For all of the years in studying 2, and later "play" in other languages, I am grateful. Exceptions are greater in English than in many. It is one of the most challenging languages in which to speak and write properly.

Reading

Reading

I can make reading fun! From there, it's a breeze. With reading, I believe, motivation is critical!
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I had a high school teacher who had us memorize 25 words per week. We were tested cumulatively, throughout the year. His trick was to test us with either the word or the definition....Great teacher. I used my tape recorder and aced virtually every weekly quiz!
Writing

Writing

In high school, and in college, I wrote nearly as much in French as in English. This makes a person write to all the more audiences. Direction is missed sometimes on the best of writers.
