For more than 40 years, I have dedicated my career to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring students across every level of education—from kindergarten and K–12 classrooms to college, as well as nearly 15 years of adult and continuing education. With advanced degrees in History, Political Science, and the Liberal Arts and state-certification in secondary education, I bring a well-rounded, multidisciplinary perspective that helps students connect ideas across subjects and understand how learning shapes their lives, communities, and world.
Throughout my work with learners of all ages and backgrounds, I have built my teaching philosophy around encouragement, respect, curiosity, and real-world relevance. Whether I am guiding young students as they develop foundational skills, supporting high school learners preparing for the future, or helping adult students learn more about history and culture, I strive to make every learning environment welcoming, supportive, and engaging.
My experience includes classroom teaching, small group and individual instruction, and long-distance online course direction. This has given me a deep understanding of how learning evolves over time and how confidence, creativity, and critical thinking can be nurtured at any stage of life. Over the years, I have taught courses in world and U.S. history, civics, art history, English language and literature, and more—always with a focus on active discussion, big questions, and empowering students to think for themselves.
I am proud of the many students I have helped succeed and the strong academic communities I have served. For four decades, I have worked to inspire curiosity, encourage thoughtful citizenship, and help learners achieve their goals. I remain committed to lifelong learning, collaboration, and the belief that education has the power to change individual lives and strengthen our shared future.
