“**Great review from my Son**”

I was a graduate student in mathematics at Caltech and a postdoc at Columbia University. I left academia to work in industry, but I enjoy teaching. I have written dozens of articles and a book on applying mathematics for general audiences. I'm working on a parent's guide to algebra and book on applying economics to improve environmentalism. I've

Helped him a lot, He has a better understanding at this point, need to schedule a weekly session so he stays ahead of the requirements. Daniel is much more confidant now.

Excellent lesson. Douglas makes it easy to comprehend, he explains the problem very clearly. I am very satisfied with his assistance. Thank you!

Douglass helped me with problems relating to Probability and Independence. He taught these problems effectively. There were, however, technical difficulties. For some reason, my audio and video did not work. Douglas could not see and hear me, but I could see and hear him. I would have gotten more out of the lesson if Douglas was able to see and hear me, but I do not think this technical difficulty was his fault. In addition, it was very kind of him to still tutor for an hour even though I was late for the lesson.

Douglas takes his time and is a wonderful tutor! I specifically asked him about Discrete Mathematics, of which he was very knowledgable about. I would most definitely ask him for help again.

Knew his stuff and taught it well. Will be consulting him again. In short, it was an hour well spent.

Identified/recommended study material and textbooks for self-study. Can boil down difficult topics using real-world/relevant examples. Looking forward to next session!

He is so gifted with Statistics and helped me quickly understand the concepts that are difficult for me. He is wonderful and he helped me with my limited computer skills as well. Better email him to make your appointment now !

Douglas not only knows the subject matter of Math, he also knows how to teach it, and develop positive relationships with students in order to enable them to learn, he is very patient walk though such difficult math subjects with his strong logic sense/skills, introduced strategies and various tips for problem solving, my son have more confident to perform and challenge his math problems AP calculus B/C in school, will definitely continue have lessons with his, would recommend Douglas to anyone looking to improve math skill and score in the Sat and beyond.... Thanks! Douglas!

Douglas was very responsive and made time to teach my child who needed some concepts to be explained in discrete math. He took time to go over the material and he explained the topic very well

I joined my statistics class 3 weeks into the semester and missed all the material that was covered on midterm 1. Douglas was extremely helpful and taught me everything that I had missed. Very patient and adjusts his teaching style to your needs! Would definitely recommend Douglas for anyone looking for help with statistics or math in general. He is very knowledgable!

I needed help with a final for calcus. Douglas helped me with horizontal and vertical asymptotes, concavity, integrating functions etc. He is very knowledgeable, professional and flexible. I will definitely contact him again if I need more help.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have taught several different levels of calculus. I have applied it in areas like economics and machine learning. Calculus might be the subject I have tutored the most in the last few years.

Combinatorics was one of my favorite subjects in college and I enjoyed taking three courses on it in the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics program. I wrote my senior thesis in combinatorial design theory. I took and was a TA for advanced combinatorics classes in graduate school. I have tutored students both for discrete math classes for computer science majors (covering things like Turing machines) and discrete mathematics classes which are alternatives to calculus (emphasizing things like proofs by induction and Euclid's algorithm).

I have tutored many students in finite mathematics over the past four years. I have also tutored subjects that use the ideas covered in finite mathematics courses. I can help whether your finite mathematics course focuses on logic and set theory, probability and statistics, or linear programming.

I used linear algebra throughout the core graduate classes in mathematics (abstract algebra, analysis, and topology/geometry). I apply linear algebra professionally within Machine Learning. I have tutored students both in calculation-based and proof-based linear algebra courses.

I used to play poker professionally, concentrating on Hold'em variants. I preferred to coach and coached many of the Sit-N-Go (SNG) players at the top of the Sharkscope leaderboards, including one player who went from not knowing whether a flush beat a straight to the dominant player on Full Tilt's medium stakes SNGs. I made dozens of instructional videos for StoxPoker (which merged with CardRunners) and PokerStrategy. I co-authored a book, The Math of Hold'em, aimed at poker players, covering mathematical aspects of poker strategy, analysis, and bankroll management. I wrote ICM Explorer, a program for investigating the Independent Chip Model of tournament equity.
