I am an instructor of biology at a liberal arts college, and my strengths lie in anatomy and physiology and introductory biology courses. I would be happy to help students taking biology courses at the middle school or high school level as well as college courses. I am an instructor of biology at a liberal arts college, and my strengths lie in anatomy and physiology and introductory biology courses. I would be happy to help students taking biology courses at the middle school or high school level as well as college courses. I would also feel comfortable tutoring students in statistics and elementary through high school level math. I'm also open to working with K-6th grade students in a variety of subjects, including reading, writing, math, and general science. I can also help college bound students with writing their personal statements for college applications.

I have devoted my life to teaching, because I love helping students build upon their skills throughout a class and seeing their "A-HA" moments. I think it is important for students and teachers to communicate with one another about what works well for them and their learning styles. I aim to individualize instruction to my students' learning styles and incorporate real-world examples to make the topic feel more relatable. I look forward to having an opportunity to work with students through tutoring!

As someone who wasn't naturally gifted in math, I know what it means to work hard and struggle to understand the material. I've managed to overcome these obstacles, but I think they've given me the empathy and patience to help others learn how to succeed in their math courses.

I enjoy teaching and try to make learning fun for my students! I look forward to working with you!

Approved Subjects

Biology

Biology

I regularly teach a broad range of biology courses, including organismal and cell biology and anatomy and physiology.
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

In graduate school, I conducted research in biology that required the performance of various descriptive and quantitative statistics, including calculations of means, variation, standard deviation, performance of t-tests and ANOVAs (as well as their non-parametric equivalents). I also was required to use various corrections to normally distribute data. As an instructor, I teach these same skills to my students on a regular basis.
Writing

Writing

I currently teach writing for the sciences on the college level. I also taught an introductory writing course for high school seniors in a pre-college program that focused on writing for different styles/disciplines and effective writing techniques.
