I’ve always loved helping people make sense of science. I earned my Ph.D. in Immunology from Brown University, where I studied how the immune system recognizes and fights cancer, and I also hold a B.S. in Biology. During graduate school, I mentored undergraduate and graduate researchers, taught university laboratory courses, and spent years explaining complex scientific ideas to students with a wide range of backgrounds. More recently, I taught Honors Life Science and AP Biology at Groton School, an independent college preparatory boarding school in Massachusetts, where I worked with high school students every day in both classroom and one-on-one settings.

My teaching philosophy is simple: memorization has its place, but understanding is what leads to confidence. I work to identify where a student’s understanding first starts to break down, then rebuild the concept from there using clear explanations, analogies, diagrams, and plenty of practice. I encourage questions (the more, the better), because they help me tailor each lesson to how that student thinks. My goal is not just to help students earn higher grades or test scores, but to help them leave each session feeling capable of tackling similar problems on their own.

Whether you're preparing for an AP Biology exam, working through a challenging college biology or immunology course, or just trying to survive chemistry homework, I strive to make our sessions engaging, practical, and even enjoyable. Science can feel intimidating, but it becomes much more approachable when someone takes the time to explain the "why" behind it. Watching that moment when a difficult concept suddenly clicks is still my favorite part of teaching, and I look forward to helping you reach that point too.
