After years of producing and cultivating my own practice, I’m offering lessons centered on creativity: accompanying people by sharing tips and nourishing their own creative processes.
As an artist, director and producer of new video and live performance work, I’ve found that most effective learning takes place when we focus on the things that interest us.
That’s why my lessons are thematically oriented to what interests you. I provide ample space for conversation to explore and hone tools. I ultimately believe that experience is the best teacher so I always combine learning resources with hands-on practice.
Previously, I have tutored adults in college, private language schools, after school programs. and community members at large through libraries.
I studied filmmaking at the School of Tokyo Visual Arts in Japan, and since graduating in 2008, I have produced, written, and edited film and video work around the world –including Argentina, Chile, Antarctica, France and the US. I’ve worked with companies such as NHK Japan and Panasonic LTD as well as independent filmmakers.
My work has been recognized with the MacColl Johnson Fellowship, grants and residencies, and I'm a fellow of the National Arts Strategies' New England Creative Community cohort. My writings have been published in printed and online journals; and my films have been selected in film festivals in Spain, Japan, and the US. I have served in reviewing panels for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and several regional arts organizations.
