Now that we got that out of the way let me tell you about my credentials. I started teaching Spanish in 2003. I have taught at all grade levels and in various school contexts. These include public school, private school and I have even taught a hybrid online class in AP Spanish through the Virtual High School. I have participated in professional development on second language acquisition that includes comprehensible input and TPRS (total physical response storytelling). I have attended and presented at ACTFL the national world language teaching conference. My Masters degree from Harvard is focused on Teaching and Learning. I published a chapter on the importance of democratic education.
Tutoring sessions with me will start with a focus on what each individual is struggling to understand related to language acquisition. We can review assignments or work to prepare for upcoming tests including the AP exam. I am a native English speaker but possess advanced proficiency in Spanish. I believe in holding sections of a tutoring session in both languages. Focus on proficiency and communication will primarily take place in Spanish while discussion of grammar and writing structure will take place in English.
