Hi, I'm Julia! I graduated Brown University with a BA in History and a minor in Mathematics. I have nearly ten years of experience teaching kids aged 6-16 at summer camps, summer school for mathematics, and 1-on-1 after-school tutoring for Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and US History. I have tutored in-person and online, and I prefer the flexibility of online learning. I specialize in US History and Algebra through Pre-Calculus, and plan on becoming either a high school history or math teacher after I obtain a Master's in Education.

I have always adored teaching, and believe that education is at its best when collaborative. Whether it be through stickers or kind words or even just a helping hand, the importance of meeting people at their level has proven crucial in intertwining understanding with action. I thrive on approaching problems from different perspectives depending on the student’s needs - it is so much more rewarding and deeply crucial to our world when someone understands the why and how, not just the what. More than anything, I love working with people as they puzzle through challenging new concepts and overcome their fears. My students’ “aha!” moment the time I spent twenty-five minutes explaining equations during a mathematics summer camp remains one of my favorite memories. My goal as an educator is to nurture the desire to learn and grow together - to comprehend the world through critically analyzing the perspectives of ourselves and others.
