10-year Math Educator! AP Stats Specialist!

Hi, folks.

I'm a cheerful, positive, highly competent teacher of AP Stats. In addition to two years teaching the course, I've taught several sections of non-AP high school Statistics.

For 5 years, I taught the full secondary Math curriculum in San Francisco Unified Schools - apart from AP Calculus, that is, which, after five (!) semesters of study as a post-bac at Cal State, I'd - ahem - possibly seen enough of!

With the imminent arrival of my then new-born son, I relocated back to New England (where I'm from) and, after a stint as a stay-at-home father, have since returned to the classroom here in Massachusetts for now three-and-a-half years, primarily in urban schools (as had been the setting in SF, CA).

In brief, I love that high Math presents dignifying intellectual challenges for young adult minds. I love that we get to help launch young adults into fulfilling work lives, wherein they can help take good care of themselves, their families, and their communities as young professionals. And specific to Statistics, I love that it reaches so many non-Math disciplines - from Medicine to Psychology, Botany to Public Policy, and countless other fields. Uniquely, I think, within the Common Core (e.g.) Math curriculum, Stats has something for almost everyone, no matter what her/his one-day profession or undergraduate major.

To whatever degree I can clearly convey the subject's concepts and help deepen students' understanding of the subject, I'm thoroughly delighted.

Two years teaching AP Statistics. Active AP Stats Teacher Community Member. Week-long training with the pre-eminent author of AP Stats textbooks in 2016, plus further professional development. Love, love, love the subject!
