I have a Master of Health Science in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of St Andrews. My academic background has given me extensive experience studying biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, and related life sciences at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Through my coursework, research projects, presentations, and academic collaborations, I have developed a strong understanding of biological concepts ranging from foundational topics to more advanced areas of molecular biology and infectious disease.
I have spent years learning and explaining complex scientific concepts to others through academic coursework, group projects, presentations, and collaborative work. These experiences have taught me that understanding a subject well is not always the same as being able to explain it clearly. I enjoy breaking complicated topics down into simpler ideas and finding different ways to explain a concept when the first approach does not make sense. I am particularly comfortable tutoring biology and life sciences at the middle school and high school levels, including more advanced high school biology and AP-level material.
My tutoring approach is centered around understanding what each student already knows and identifying the specific areas where they are having difficulty. Rather than simply giving students answers, I want to help them understand the reasoning behind a concept so that they can approach similar problems independently. Depending on the student's needs, a session might involve reviewing material from class, working through homework problems, preparing for an upcoming test, or building a stronger foundation in a particular subject. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while they build both their knowledge and confidence. I can also provide general academic and homework support in other subjects for younger students.
