I tutor SQL, Python, and academic writing, with a focus on beginners, college students, adult learners, career changers, and homeschool students. In my current role as a data professional for a public transit agency, I write SQL queries and build Python data pipelines daily. I bring that practical experience into each session, helping students solve the immediate problem while developing skills they can use independently.

I can help with SQL fundamentals, joins, aggregations, Python debugging, data analysis concepts, essay organization, thesis development, research, and revision. I graduated magna cum laude from Providence College with a degree in history, a field that strengthened my ability to analyze evidence, develop clear arguments, conduct research, and communicate complex ideas effectively.

My teaching experience includes tutoring college students one-on-one in data analysis, working as a substitute teacher and teaching assistant, and teaching personal finance to adult learners as a housing counselor. These experiences taught me how to adapt explanations to different learning styles, identify where a student is stuck, and break complex material into manageable steps.

My path into data was not linear. Along with my history degree, I studied computer science and data analysis, completed a technical certificate in computer networking, and built a career spanning IT and data. I was also homeschooled through elementary and middle school, giving me firsthand insight into the strengths and challenges homeschool students may experience.

My tutoring style is patient, practical, and collaborative. I will not simply hand you an answer. We will work through the problem together, strengthen your problem-solving process, and build confidence you can carry into future assignments and projects.

Data Analysis

Data Analysis

I work as a data professional for a public transit agency, where I build KPIs and performance metrics from scratch, write SQL queries against real operational data, and develop Python-based pipelines to automate reporting. I completed a data analytics bootcamp through Upright Education in partnership with Bryant University, building on a college course in data analysis that first sparked my interest in the field. As a student, I worked as a tutor in data analysis at my university's tutoring center, helping classmates work through the same concepts I had just learned myself. I bring a combination of formal training, daily hands-on professional experience, and firsthand tutoring experience specific to this subject.
English

English

My qualifications in English/ELA come from both classroom and hands-on experience: I’ve worked as a substitute teacher and TA, tutored one-on-one at the Providence College tutoring center, and studied history and literature at the college level. I’ve also performed Shakespeare in semi-professional theater, which gave me a close, practical ear for language rhythm, tone, meaning beyond just grammar rules. On the language side, I took Spanish honors all through high school and grew up around Portuguese spoken regularly in my family, so I have a natural feel for how language structure and meaning shift across languages, something that carries over well into teaching grammar and vocabulary in English as well.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I hold a degree in history from Providence College, a discipline built almost entirely on analytical and argumentative writing. When I tutor writing, I have students start by writing down the question they want their writing to answer. This becomes their research question. From there, they get a high level look at the information available on the topic, using sources like an encyclopedia, an academic blog, or a textbook. With that context, they attempt to answer their research question with a thesis statement. As they research further, that thesis often evolves, and I help them refine it so it stays sharp and well supported rather than static. I use this same process in my own writing, including RFPs (Request for Proposals) at work, formal documents that have to persuade an audience using clear, well supported writing, so I understand firsthand how much this process matters outside the classroom too. I also bring experience tutoring at Providence College’s tutoring center and teaching through substitute and TA work with ESS, so I know how to adapt this process to different students and skill levels.
