NASA scientist focused on tutoring geology, physical science, and math

I graduated with a PhD in geology from Indiana University and I am currently a planetary geologist at Brown University. I absolutely love the physical sciences and I have always had a fascination with applying the principles of science to understand our place in the solar system.

I have had the benefit of mentoring and tutoring many students from the elementary level up to the college level over the last 10 years. I am very patient and meticulous when it comes to explaining the core concept of any subject whether it is math, science or geology. For me, there is nothing more rewarding than that moment of clarity when the fundamental concept crystallizes in the students’ mind. From my experience, that AHA! moment is the key to keeping students interested and engaged in the subject while minimizing fear and resentment.

Helping students understand complex science problems and working on critical thinking skills has been an incredibly rewarding experience over the years. I feel that I can bring an interesting perspective to science as I have worked as a NASA funded scientist. I have worked as a participating scientist on the Curiosity Rover on Mars, so I could potentially share some exciting stories and information to help inspire students to continue in the STEM fields.
