I began teaching math back in the 1970's in middle school. I enjoyed working with the students very much. At the time I had a young family with a wife and 4 children. Needing more money I took a job with the Providence Journal which paid me much more. After 16 years with the Journal I decided to return to my first love, teaching. I taught summer school at first at Ponagansett High, but then got a job working with the Southern RI collaborative for the next 17 years, which catered to students who needed extra help with their studies or behavior. After a funding shortage closed this program I moved on to teach at the Cranston charter alternative Ed. program, which I've been at the last five years.
I have tutored various times at Narragansett High school and individual students from different schools. I have enjoyed working with them and helping them to improve their math understanding and problem solving skills.
I feel that I am a good math tutor because I am very patient and always make the student feel comfortable when doing his work.
