Hello, my name is Justin! Initially, I started studying at the University of Rhode Island for my bachelor's in chemistry and physics. So I have a lot of background in topics such as mathematics, physics, and science of all kinds! While I have always had a passion for learning, what comes with it is a passion for sharing knowledge. I show up with my love for the material and hope to ignite a similar enthusiasm in students with all the exciting ways you can apply the information.
My instruction method may change depending on the type of learner I'm working with. This is because I find it essential to tailor my instruction to the students' individual needs. While many students prefer a visual demonstration, others may not, and understanding which type of learner you're working with is crucial to understanding the best way a student will absorb the information! I would begin by understanding the challenging subject topics and developing a lesson plan that aligns with the curriculum goals and addresses the specific needs of the students. As well as the curriculum, I take teaching study habits, test-taking strategies, note-taking strategies, and time management skills fundamental to a student's success!
I am studying at WGU for my bachelor's degree in education and am on my final steps toward my teaching licensure! I hold an associate's degree in general education from CCRI and have received my TA certification from the RI Department of Education. I also hold certifications in first aid and CPR.
For a job, I currently work as a behavioral specialist at a Johnston elementary school. I work one-on-one with students who require extra help while also providing classroom instructional help with the lead teacher.
Previously, I have also gained teaching experience working one-on-one with children who have behavioral and social-emotional challenges related to ASD, ADHD/ADD, and TBI diagnoses. I have had experience working with students of all ages!
