I am a 1984 graduate of Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Apparel Design. I have worked in the Fashion Industry over 20 years. Starting as an assistant, I worked my way to associate then designer, finally reaching the position of design director.
I lived and worked in New York City for 16 years, working at the ateliers of major designers such as Bill Blass and Adrienne Vittadini. Some of my career highlights during that time are having my dresses from Blassdress in the windows of Henri Bendel, and working with Mr. Blass directly on many design projects.
I have traveled the world as a designer, working in Hong Kong, China, Korea, Paris, Florence, Milan, and Tokyo, and my last full time job, at the Daggar Group, was as Design Director of a $100 million dollar private label company.
In 2007, I began teaching in the Fashion Design program at Mount Ida College’s School of Design where the senior class petitioned the Academic Vice-President to allow me to teach their Senior Portfolio Presentation class, since they trusted my guidance and made enormous strides in my classes.
Six years ago, I developed my own fashion design workshops for teenagers in the RI/Mass area, and Syracuse, New York. I have created a curriculum that I believe inspires students to achieve their very best. We work with professional standards, and even 12-year old young designers come away with projects worthy of a college portfolio.
