Bio

I'm a licensed occupational therapist (OTR/L) with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and an Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant, both from New England Institute of Technology. I'm a licensed occupational therapist (OTR/L) with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and an Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant, both from New England Institute of Technology. I worked as a certified OTA for about five years before becoming an OTR in 2022, so I know both the OTA and OTR exam paths and what each level of coursework demands. I'm also a Certified Stroke Rehab Professional, MoCA certified, and hold an NBCOT micro credential in Mental Health and Stroke.

My clinical experience spans acute care at a Level I trauma center, skilled nursing, home-based care, and mental health, working with adults and older adults. During my master's fieldwork, I supervised and mentored OTA students, and in my work I've trained patients and colleagues, led weekly therapy groups, served on an interview board and documentation review committee, and chair the Mental Health Special Interest Group for the Rhode Island Occupational Therapy Association. I'm also the author of a published guide on managing suffering in daily life.

As a tutor, I focus on clinical reasoning over memorization. I start by finding where you're struggling, then work through case-based questions and real scenarios, and teach test-taking strategies for NBCOT-style questions. I can help with neuroscience, kinesiology, mental health OT, documentation, evaluations, and fieldwork or interview prep. My students are adult learners, mostly OT and OTA students and new graduates, in one-on-one sessions. I'm available evenings and weekends.

Approved Subjects

ADHD

ADHD

As an occupational therapist working in mental health, I help adults build the daily routines, coping strategies, and emotional regulation skills that attention and focus challenges often disrupt. I work within a Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center and on inpatient psychiatric units, I deliver life-skills and wellness interventions focused on routine development, sensory modulation, and cognition. I chair the Mental Health Special Interest Group for the Rhode Island Occupational Therapy Association and hold an MSOT from New England Institute of Technology. I coach through practical, occupation-based strategies such as structured routines, time-management systems, and environmental setup rather than generic study tips.
Anatomy

Anatomy

Anatomy is the foundation of my work as an occupational therapist, since I assess and treat neurological and orthopedic conditions daily and need to understand how muscles, joints, and nerves affect function. I earned my MSOT and OTA degrees from New England Institute of Technology, and as a certified OTA and later an OTR, I've applied that knowledge in acute care, skilled nursing, mental health psychiatric rehabilitation and home-based settings. I've treated patients using strength and balance programs, contracture management, electrical stimulation, and wheelchair modification, all of which depend on detailed anatomical knowledge. I teach by tying structures to function and real patient cases, which makes the material easier to remember and apply on exams.
Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

Executive function is central to my clinical work, since I evaluate and treat how cognition affects planning, organization, problem-solving, and independence in daily life. I'm MoCA certified, have administered cognitive assessments in inpatient psychiatric and acute care settings, and have used habit training to help patients build functional routines. Through my MSOT training and years in mental health and neuro rehab, I teach concrete strategies for task initiation, prioritizing, time management, and building consistent routines. I tailor each plan to the person's goals and daily demands, whether that's coursework, clinical rotations, or work.
Neuroscience

Neuroscience

As an occupational therapist, I apply neuroscience daily, evaluating and treating patients with stroke and other neurological conditions at a Level I trauma center and comprehensive stroke center. I'm a Certified Stroke Rehab Professional, MoCA certified, and hold an NBCOT microcredential in Mental Health and Stroke, so I'm comfortable connecting brain structures and function to real clinical presentations. I've also administered cognitive and sensory assessments and provided neuropsychological rehabilitation in inpatient psychiatric settings. I earned my MSOT and OTA degrees from New England Institute of Technology, where I completed the neuroscience coursework that I now teach through case-based, clinically focused explanations.
Physiology

Physiology

Physiology is central to my practice as an occupational therapist, where I evaluate and treat patients in emergency, intensive care, and general medicine units and need to understand how body systems respond to illness, injury, and activity. I earned my MSOT and OTA degrees from New England Institute of Technology, and my work in acute care, stroke rehabilitation, and skilled nursing has given me hands-on experience with cardiovascular, neurological, and musculoskeletal responses to treatment. I've also used modalities like electrical stimulation and diathermy, and designed strength and balance programs, which rely on understanding how muscle and nerve tissue function. I teach physiology by connecting each system to what happens in real patients, so the concepts stick and apply on exams.
Psychology

Psychology

I've worked in mental health for over a decade, starting as an Army Behavioral Health Specialist, where I collected psychosocial data through intake interviews and counseling sessions and supported combat operational stress control. As an occupational therapist, I now treat adults with chronic mental health conditions in a psychosocial rehabilitation center and on inpatient psychiatric units, using interventions for coping, emotional regulation, and cognition. I've also worked on an acute psychiatric hospital unit, chair the Mental Health Special Interest Group for the Rhode Island Occupational Therapy Association, and wrote a published guide on understanding and managing suffering in daily life. I tutor by connecting concepts like mood disorders, behavior, and treatment approaches to real clinical examples, which helps students understand and remember them.
