Hi, I’m Vasileios, a composer, violinist and music educator. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor in composition from Rhode Island College, and I am now earning my Master of Music in Composition at the University of Rhode Island. My coursework includes Music Theory I through IV, orchestration and a composition seminar, and I studied composition privately for two years. Violin is my primary instrument (12 years), and I also teach piano, viola, cello and guitar.
I have taught one-on-one and in groups since 2019. As a high school student, I tutored young violinists at Portsmouth Middle School and prepared them for concertos. From 2021 to 2025 I coached high school violinists at Rhode Island College’s All-State Workshop, preparing them for All-State auditions. From 2022 to 2024 I taught private violin, viola, cello and piano lessons at More than Music in North Kingstown, and since 2025 I have taught the same instruments at the Rob Coyne School of Music in Warren, working with children, teens and adults from complete beginners to advanced players. Since 2023 I have also led a string orchestra and taught private lessons with the Community Strings Project in Bristol.
My teaching is student-centered. I draw on the Suzuki, Kodály, Orff and Gordon Music Learning Theory approaches alongside traditional classical training, choosing what fits each student’s age, goals and learning style. Young beginners learn by ear, rhythm games and movement before reading notation. Older students get clear technical foundations, theory they can apply, and repertoire they are excited to play. For theory and composition students, I break harmony, analysis and orchestration into simple steps and connect them to real music. Whether you want to pass an audition, play in an orchestra, write your own music or simply enjoy playing, I will build a plan around you and keep lessons encouraging and fun.
