I am in charge of the 6th grade students this year, and run lunch bunch groups, do individual counseling, student mediations, hold parent teacher conferences, attend SpEd. and 504 meetings, and team placements for the next school year.

From September 2015 to January 2016 I worked in a provisional pilot program, as a School-Based Clinical Therapist at Nathan Bishop Middle School in Providence, RI. This is one of 7 schools in the pilot program. My duties included completing intakes and initial assessments, offering individual and family counseling, collaboration with school administrators, social worker, psychologist, as well as other school staff. I was placed in the school doing mental health intakes, as well as individual and family counseling with students and families of student’s.

Starting in November 2011, I worked as a tenured School Guidance Counselor in a middle school on Maui (Lahaina Intermediate School), grades 6-8. This was a very culturally diverse population with groups such as Hawaiian, Filipino, Japanese, Tongan, Samoan, Mexican, and Caucasian. In this position, we started with the students in 6th grade and followed them until they were ready for high school. The job was a balance of individual counseling, group counseling including peer mediation and special groups such as grief groups. In addition, I was the gatekeeper with regards to academics. I initiated referrals for assessment, scheduled and held all parent teacher conferences for my grade level, coordinated with parents, teachers, and administration, tracked attendance records, worked with the Special Education and English Language Learner programs, and assisted with career education/planning. I ultimately did everything possible to help students achieve and pass on to the next grade level.
Previously, I worked as a Behavioral Health Specialist/Counselor at Lahaina Intermediate School for the Maui Dist
