Hi! My name is Jessica. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education with a TESOL certificate and an active K–12 Special Education teaching license. I also completed a Postgraduate degree in Educational Therapy, which allows me to look beyond surface-level challenges and truly understand how students learn. Being bilingual in English and Spanish has been a meaningful part of my work, as it helps me support students and families in a way that feels accessible, respectful, and encouraging.

For over three years, I have worked with students from kindergarten through high school in a wide range of settings, including public and charter schools, private schools, microschools, online learning environments, and individualized one-on-one sessions. I have served as a Special Education Resource Teacher for grades 4–11 and have supported students with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and language-based learning differences. My teaching experience spans reading, writing, math, English language development, and executive functioning, and I focus on helping students build both skills and confidence through clear explanations, guided practice, and consistent encouragement.

My approach is warm, structured, and highly individualized. I believe students learn best when they feel safe, understood, and supported, so I take time to build trust while setting clear expectations and achievable goals. Whether working one-on-one or in small groups, I adapt each lesson to the student’s pace and learning style, using visual supports, multisensory strategies, and ongoing feedback. I aim not only to help students succeed academically, but also to help them believe in themselves as capable learners.

Common Core

Common Core

I have over three years of experience teaching Common Core–aligned skills across reading, writing, language, and math for students from elementary through secondary levels. In my roles as a Special Education Resource Teacher and tutor, I regularly planned and delivered instruction based on Common Core standards, adapting them for students with learning differences through scaffolding and differentiated strategies. I have supported students in mastering key standards such as reading comprehension, written expression, foundational literacy, and mathematical reasoning using structured, evidence-based approaches. My work consistently focuses on helping students meet grade-level expectations while building the underlying skills needed for long-term academic success.
