I am a native Spanish speaker from Spain who has spent more than 15 years living, studying, and working in Puerto Rico. I hold a master’s degree in language education from the University of Salamanca and a master’s degree in translation from the University of Puerto Rico. I am also completing a Ph.D. in translation and intercultural mediation. As a professional translator, I have more than a decade of experience adapting educational, technical, cultural, and creative content for audiences in Puerto Rico, the continental United States, Latin America, and Spain. My work has included localizing an educational programming platform and more than 200,000 words of university-level computer science curriculum.

Since 2023, I have taught graduate students at the University of Puerto Rico in classroom and small-group settings, typically working with groups of approximately ten adult learners. I also guide students individually on academic and professional projects. My teaching style is practical, patient, and responsive. I begin by identifying each student’s current level and goals, then build lessons around conversation, authentic materials, guided practice, and clear explanations of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural context. I encourage questions and treat mistakes as a natural and valuable part of learning.

I work primarily with adults and university students at beginner, intermediate, or advanced levels. Lessons can focus on everyday conversation, travel, professional meetings and presentations, writing, or greater fluency and confidence. Because my personal and professional experience spans Spain, Puerto Rico, and the wider United States, I can explain differences in register and regional usage rather than presenting Spanish as though it were identical everywhere. Sessions may be conducted mainly in Spanish, with explanations in English whenever helpful.
