I’m Herman Colberg, a senior at the University of Notre Dame majoring in Science-Business (GPA 3.979). My approach to tutoring is built on clarity, patience, and helping students connect abstract ideas to real understanding. I’ve scored in the 98th percentile on the SAT and the 89th percentile on the MCAT, scoring in the 97th and 93rd for Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems & Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior sections, respectively, and earned 5s on AP Calculus AB & BC, AP Statistics, and both AP Spanish exams during my high school years. I love showing students how to tackle difficult material confidently and efficiently.

I’ve tutored and mentored students from pre-K to high school in both the U.S. and Puerto Rico. At Caminando con Caimito, I taught algebra and general math to middle-school students in the Puerto Rico public school system. I also tutored underprivileged children at Escuela Juan Ponce de León and Verano de Leones, helping them build strong math and science foundations. At Notre Dame’s CLAD Lab, I teach pre-kindergarten students early reading and number skills using structured, research-based methods.

My tutoring style combines structure with adaptability, and I identify where a student’s reasoning breaks down and rebuild it step by step. Whether it’s algebra, biology, chemistry, statistics, or test prep, I focus on teaching concept mastery instead of memorization. I also speak fluent Spanish and can tutor bilingually when needed.
