¡Hola! I’m Dolores, a native Spanish speaker from Mendoza, Argentina, and I’ve been teaching Spanish for about ten years: at a high school in Argentina, at the University of Connecticut, and at the University of Pennsylvania, where I recently earned my PhD in Hispanic Studies. My teaching has been recognized with awards at both UConn and Penn.
I’ve taught students of every level and many ages, from beginners saying their first words in Spanish to advanced students analyzing novels and films. I can help you with conversation practice and pronunciation, grammar at any level, and homework and exam preparation for high school and college Spanish courses. I also work with students on writing in Spanish, from short compositions to academic essays, and on reading and analyzing literature and film from Latin America and Spain. Teaching intensive courses has also taught me how to help students make real progress quickly without feeling overwhelmed.
My lessons are built around your interests and goals. If you want to speak with confidence, we’ll spend most of our time talking. If grammar is what trips you up, we’ll work through it step by step, with clear explanations and plenty of practice. Along the way, you’ll discover that there is no single “correct” Spanish: Argentina, Mexico, Spain, and Puerto Rico all sound different, and learning to recognize those differences will make you a stronger listener and speaker.
Feel free to send me a message so we can talk about your goals and find a lesson time that works for you!
